Hazard assessment
I have expertise in seismotectonic hazard assessment including fault location ▪ paleoseismic studies ▪ fault kinematic analyses ▪ fault hazard characterization and zonation ▪ landslide susceptibility ▪ liquefaction and paleo-liquefaction ▪ fluvial response to active tectonism.
Techniques
I use a combination of remote (GIS-based), outcrop and trench site-investigations. LiDAR, GPS and RTK-GPS, and total station surveys allow me to map and understand earth deformation, typically but not exclusively relating to earthquakes and active faults. I also work with geophysicists to acquire and interpret geophysical data where appropriate.
